Our Mission
The mission of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest is to spread the reign of Christ in all spheres of human life by drawing from the millennial treasury of the Roman Catholic Church, particularly her liturgical tradition, the unbroken line of spiritual thought and practice of her saints, and her cultural patrimony in music, art and architecture. It is the Institute’s aim to give people of all ages the opportunity to know the classical Roman Liturgy because, for so many, they find it strengthens their faith, helps them in their struggle to lead a Christian life in the world of today, and intensifies their attachment to Holy Mother Church.

Our Future
To aid our members in their living of the Faith at Old St. Patrick Oratory, the Institute has been researching options to expand and provide additional space needed for conferences, social events, classes and offices. Considerable time was devoted in 2024 to find the best solution. After extensive architectural and construction deliberation, a plan was put in place to build a new social hall south of the Oratory. Divine Providence, however, intervened and changed our course.
While researching the immediate area for additional parking, there were conversations with VanTrust Real Estate company who owns much of the property around the Oratory. Though not for sale on the public market, VanTrust made an offer for the Institute to purchase the historic building known as the Ozark National Life / Old Public Library Building located west of the Oratory at 500 East Ninth Street. The Institute has accepted the offer and is purchasing the building for $3.4 million dollars. With this real estate purchase by the Institute of Christ the King, the Oratory will own an entire city block in downtown Kansas City with 60,000 SF to be used for conferences, socials, classes and offices. This will give the Oratory five times the space at about 1/3 of the cost of the proposed new construction. The Hall to Holiness Campaign is a 5 year - $5 million effort. The feasible annual goal of $1 million for the next five years will cover the $2.5 million loan needed for the purchase of the building. It will also fund necessary parking and courtyard improvements and transform space within the edifice for near immediate social and educational use. Help us Grow the Faith Downtown.
